Historic Downtown Salida

The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)  is the decision-making board on major certificate of approval applications relating to historic preservation in the Salida Downtown Historic District and locally land-marked properties.  They review major Certificate of Approval applications for local landmarks and sites within the Salida Downtown National Register District and make recommendations to City Council on new landmark designations.  The HPC helps educate the public about historic preservation.  The powers and responsibilities of the Historic Preservation Commission are set out in Chapter 2, Article 11 of the Municipal Code.

The HPC meets as needed on the fourth Thursday of each month at 4:00 in the City Council Chambers at 448 E. First Street, Suite 190.  Contact the Community Development Department (719) 530-2626 for upcoming meeting dates.

Historic Survey Plan 2022

This survey plan was compiled to provide a comprehensive overview to prior survey projects, historic resources, and potential opportunities for future survey work within the City of Salida. The findings will provide the community with an understanding of where historic resources are located, where additional resources are likely to exist, and the strategies needed for completing the full documentation of properties within the community.
