Poncha Blvd. Project Update

Most of the Poncha Boulevard streetscape improvements have been completed, including sidewalks, bike lanes, drainage improvements, striping, and landscaping. Public frontage along Thonhoff Park and the Golf Course property will have additional open space upgrades following the completion of the streetscape improvements.

Remaining work at the Holman Ave. intersection will begin in late spring and include:

  • ADA ramps
  • Remaining sidewalk tie-ins
  • Improvements west of the Holman Avenue intersection
  • Some additional landscaping improvements along the golf course frontage area

Much of the project was anticipated to be a two-year project. However, the contractor's schedule and City Council's commitment to expedite the work allowed it to be completed in a year.

May of the adjacent property owners opted to apply for the Adopt-a-Tree program, which is available to all property owners. Street right-of-way trees provide many benefits, including increased shade and decreased vehicle speeds. More information on this program can be found online at www.cityofsalida.com/bc-tb.
