Dedicated to Community Service

The City recently instituted an award program that recognizes outstanding staff on a quarterly basis. Nominations are special because they come from fellow employees and coworkers. The award was presented to Mike Jones, Municipal Worker III, who has been with the City since June 2022.

“Mike is a newer hire in the Public Works Department and has stepped up in a number of ways in recent months,” explained Public Works Director David Lady. In addition to his daily duties, he dedicated several weeks of time to out-of-town training for necessary certifications. These certifications allow him to provide additional expertise in doing his job as well as the capabilities to utilize different pieces of equipment that are needed in emergency situations.

More recently, Mike volunteered to help street maintenance staff sand the Parade of Lights parade route before the event and then offered to drive one of the City’s vehicles for the parade. “Offering to do so on his own time demonstrates his willingness to support the City and the City’s dedication to the public,” explained David Lady.

If you see Mike out in the community, say hello and be sure to congratulate him on being named Employee of the Quarter for going above and beyond the scope of his daily duties and providing excellent customer service to the residents of Salida
