Milk Run Trail

The “Milk Run” trail is the name given the project to extend the Monarch Spur trail behind the former Starbuck Dairy to the Starbuck neighborhood and Wal-Mart and Checker Auto Parts. The trail extension will also provide a connection to CR 111 along Highway 50. This project was awarded a $156,400 grant from Colorado State Parks, which will cover 75% of the cost.

The City has received the signed contract and has commenced work on design of the trail. Of particular concern are the irrigation ditches that the trail will cross or which are in close proximity to the trail.

The City has obtained easements from Wal Mart and O’Reilly Auto Parts to extend the trail down the eastern boundary of Wal Mart and O’Reilly Auto Parts. This will provide easier access to the intersection of US Highway 50 and CR 111 and to the stores.

Construction is currently anticipated for the Fall of 2011.
