Salida Police Bring Holiday Cheer to Local Students

Shop with a Cop participants wrap gifts with Salida Police Officers and other community partners

In December, staff from the Salida Police Department partnered with the Buena Vista Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office to bring holiday cheer to 12 local kids and their families. The goal of the event is to foster positive relationships between students and officers that will hopefully last a lifetime.

As part of the nationwide Shop with a Cop program, these fourth-grade students spent time with staff from these organizations and shopped for holiday gifts for themselves and their families.

Participants received gift cards to businesses throughout the community and enjoyed lunch at the police department, followed by tasty treats downtown.

The Salida Police Department extends a special thank you to our partner organizations and numerous community members for their support and monetary donations. The program would not exist without their participation and contributions.
