Shop with a Cop event with Salida Police Officer shopping with young boy to pick out holiday gifts

The Salida Police Department partnered with Buena Vista PD, Colorado State Patrol, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, and the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office to bring holiday joy to 12 kids and their families.

As part of the Shop with a Cop program, these fourth-grade students were able to spend time with staff from these organizations and shop for holiday gifts for themselves and their families. Participants received gift cards to businesses throughout the community and enjoyed lunch at the police department and enjoyed tasty treats downtown. 

A special thank you to the organizations, numerous community members, and the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge for all the donations. Despite COVID-19, donations were at an all-time high this year!  And because of that, the kids were able to purchase extra presents this Christmas.
