Update on the Scout Wave in Salida's Whitewater Park

Salida, CO, July 13, 2023:

Due to recent minor temporary modifications, current conditions at the Scout Wave are characterized by a green wave followed by a secondary feature. At this lower flow, the high-flow boater bypass on river left is not available. The recent work also included cleanup and restoration in the river. As river flows continue to drop this summer and fall, the river power at the feature will decrease. Standard whitewater safety equipment, knowledge, and scouting is always strongly recommended.

A permanent maintenance project is proposed at the Scout Wave for the Winter of 2023. The maintenance project will incorporate structure and bank modifications that are intended to improve boater passage, particularly at high flows.
