Press Release: Salida Fire Department Extinguished Structure Fire

Salida, CO- The Salida Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 705 H Street  on Friday, April 20, 2024, at approximately 1:38 AM.  Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames venting through the roof of the residence.

"Engine 11 made a quick and decisive attack on the fire," said Salida Fire Chief Jonke. "The significant amount of personal belongings within the structure presented a challenge, but our crews were able to effectively extinguish the blaze."

There were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. Volunteers from the Chaffee County Fire Department provided valuable assistance with water supply and scene cleanup.

The Salida Fire Department reminds all residents of the importance of having working smoke detectors in their homes. Smoke detectors should be tested monthly and replaced every ten years.
