F Street Transformation

When F Street closes to vehicle traffic this summer and local businesses expand into the street, visitors will get to enjoy some new features thanks to a $37,606 grant.

In September 2020, the City of Salida announced that they were the recipient of a Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) grant. The grant is part of CDOTs Revitalizing Main Streets program. The program offers small-scale grants to local governments for low-cost upgrades to help safely improve the economy and enhance healthy activities across Colorado during the COVID-19 pandemic.

CDOT awarded the City of Salida $37,606 (with a 10% local match of $3,760 by the City). The funds were used to purchase the following:

  • Four shade pergolas (currently, one is located in Riverside Park)
  • 14 animal-proof trash and recycling containers
  • Eight Adirondack chairs
  • Three portable ADA ramps
  • 30 steel barricades to help define the in-street pedestrian path
  • Solar lighting for the pergolas
  • Anti-graffiti protection

The new features will be added to F Street when the roadway is closed to vehicle traffic later this spring. We look forward to residents and visitors enjoying the new enhancements along F Street soon.
