Meet Kristi Jefferson

Kristi Jefferson, City Clerk

Kristi Jefferson may have a new job title but she’s no stranger to the City of Salida organization. Originally hired in 2001, Kristi has spent the last 23 years working as a utility clerk and in the community development department. On March 5, Kristi was appointed by City Council as the new City Clerk. Get to know her a little better and learn why she loves working for the City (and who she saw perform at her first live concert).

Why did you choose to apply for the City Clerk position?

After being in the community development department for 16 years I was ready for a new challenge.  I have worked with some great City Clerks in my years at the City and have always found the role interesting!

What do you hope to accomplish in your first year as City Clerk?

We recently hired our new Deputy City Clerk/Court Clerk, so this next year will be spent training our new Deputy Clerk as well as learning all aspects of the City Clerk position.

What’s your favorite part about working for the City?

I truly enjoy working with the community and my coworkers; I have made some lifelong friendships working here!

Who performed at your very first concert ever attended in-person?

I am going to show my age here, but my first concert was in the 1970s when Air Supply performed at the Pueblo State Fair
