Take the Creative Space Needs Survey

Follow the Hearts to Salida art painted on a traffic barrier

Calling all creatives, artists and makers! Do you need or value having affordable space designed for living, working, creating, making, rehearsing, or sharing creative work or practice(s) in Salida?  If so, your input is critical to advancing plans for a new, creative space facility. A facility where members of the creative sector (creatives, artists, people who make things and those who keep cultural practices alive) can have affordable space to hone their craft.

Take the Survey

The Salida Creative Space Needs Survey is now open. Take the short, 10-minute (or less!) survey by visiting http://www.spacetocreatesalidasurvey.org. The deadline to complete the survey is Wednesday, March 2.

Project Background

Through a competitive process, Salida and the Salida Creative District have been selected as the location of the next creative facility to be developed under the Space to Create program. Space to Create is the first state-driven initiative in the U.S. for affordable space for creatives in rural communities. Artspace, a nonprofit with a mission to Create, Foster and Preserve Affordable and Sustainable space for Artists and Arts Organizations, is the real estate development partner.

The first step in the process is a Preliminary Feasibility Study and this Creative Space Needs Study to assess demand for space, the potential to fund the space, site opportunities, and gauge local leadership, community members, and other stakeholder support for a new facility.

Funding

This study is made possible with generous funding and support from The Boettcher Foundation, the City of Salida and the State of Colorado Department of Local Affairs.
