“The Spirit of Salida” Project Receives Green Light

On April 19, the Salida Public Art Commission made a presentation to the Salida City Council regarding setting aside the current Salida Skatepark at First and G Streets for an upcoming art space. Council gave permission to the Commission to move forward with the design phase of the project, with a working title described as “The Spirit of Salida” project.

The space will be a landmark that would be iconic & "instagrammable"; more than a “welcome sign”, visually Inviting by connecting the immediate area with surrounding vistas; a place to gather; beautiful & durable with a collection of visually interesting & interactive elements for all ages; a space that celebrates all of the seasons through unique layout; a programmable space; and preserves Salida’s heritage with cultural references to signify the past & inform modern “explorers.”
