Press Release: Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center Incident

On January 8th, 2024, around 5:30 PM, the Chaffee County Communication center received a 911 call from the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center. The caller, a lifeguard at the pool, stated that CPR was in progress on an adult male. Chaffee County EMS, Salida Fire, and Salida PD all responded. CPR was administered for nearly an hour. A pulse was obtained, and the male was transported to the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center. Once stabilized, he was airlifted to a hospital in Colorado Springs.

At this time, the individual is still hospitalized in Colorado Springs. The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will be closed until further notice.
