Salida residents have two options for Home Energy Assessments: Energy Smart Colorado, and Xcel Energy’s Home Energy Squad® program.
Energy Smart Colorado
- Energy Smart Colorado can connect you with local certified energy analysts to visit your home and complete a detailed home energy assessment including:
- Air leak analysis with a blower door diagnostic test and infrared imaging analysis
- Gas line leak detection and carbon monoxide safety analysis
- Analysts may install “quick fixes” like LEDs, programmable thermostats or kitchen faucet aerators, low flow showerheads, pipe wrap, or a water heater blanket at no cost to you
- Inspection of home exterior, insulation and mechanical systems
- Comprehensive written report with assessment findings, recommendations and advising

Home Energy Squad
Xcel Energy’s Home Energy Squad has two products to choose from. A standard visit is FREE and includes:
- Replacing showerheads with energy-efficient models
- Weather–stripping a drafty, exterior door
- Switching out traditional, incandescent bulbs for LEDs
- Adding aerators to your kitchen and bathroom faucets
- A Home Energy Squad Plus visit (normally $150 and now $100) includes all of the above PLUS:
- Inspection of home exterior, insulation and mechanical systems
- Air leak analysis with a blower door diagnostic test and infrared imaging analysis
- Full summary report with findings, recommendations and advising
