City Debuts New, Mobile-Friendly Website

On Monday, November 2, the City of Salida launched a new, mobile-friendly government website to enhance online accessibility and transparency. The site, www.cityofsalida.com, is one of the City's most valuable communication tools by offering a one-stop-shop for residents and visitors to find information. The site contains municipal operations information, including City departments and staff, elected officials, special events, City projects, news, arts and recreation opportunities, and much more.

The dated City site was full of non-working components, broken pages, and broken links. We gave it more than just a fresh coat of paint. Visitors to the new site will immediately notice an improved visual appearance that reinforces the community's character.

The City set several goals for redesigning the website, including:

  • Provide timely, proactive and accurate information
  • Improve opportunities for two-way communication
  • Position the City as the primary source of City news
  • Showcase the City as a vibrant and active community
  • Improve mobile responsiveness and search functionality
  • Meet, or exceed national ADA compliance requirements

The new website makes it easy to find City news and events, contact City Council and staff, and search for local recreation and arts opportunities.

Slate Communications, the City's contracted communications consultants, created the custom website design, developed new content, and aided the City staff in the migration and creation of new pages. The project cost includes a one-time payment to Slate Communications for $22,000, and MuniCode for $9,500. Then, the City will pay an annual maintenance fee to MuniCode for $2,600 beginning in the second year of service.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the new website and share their feedback by contacting info@cityofsalida.com.
