Recent attacks prompted this reminder from Police Chief Terry Clark. The law requires people to keep dogs leashed while out in public at all times. The reason for the leash law is to protect people and the other dogs from attacks. Over the last three years our numbers of vicious dog calls have increased by thirty percent. Dog bites can be very dangerous to people and other animals, so please put the leash on when you take your dog for walks or rides.

Requests for funding community projects are being accepted for the 2011 budget process although little, if any, funding will be available. The City has been accused of doing nothing to “tighten the belt” on spending during the current economic times. This simply is not true. Community projects are just one area likely to be affected next year.

The City of Salida and Chaffee County are soliciting proposals for a drainage and paving project at the Touber Building. The work generally consists of the installation of trench drain, ribbon gutter, rain gardens & asphalt paving.
