City of Salida Moves to Tier I of the COVID-19 Action Plan

Press Release

Salida, Colorado 5/21/21

For Immediate Release

City of Salida Moves to Tier I of the COVID-19 Action Plan

Due to COVID-19 cases decreasing in Chaffee County and Colorado, along with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment moving Chaffee County to the Blue Level on the State’s COVID-19 Dial, the City of Salida will be reducing its stance to Tier I of its COVID-19 Action Plan in effect as of May 21, 2021.  The Action Plan can be found at the City’s website: www.cityofsalida.com

Per the Chaffee County Public Health Order of May 18, 2021, fully vaccinated individuals may go without any type of face covering in any setting.  As allowed under state law, owners, operators and managers of any business or service may continue to require individuals entering or within their locations to wear face coverings or show proof of full vaccination.  The City of Salida fully supports any organization, business, or individual who would like to be more restrictive than the Public Health Order requires.

As part of its approach to the Tier I designation, face coverings are strongly recommended when entering and attending indoor-only events at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center, SteamPlant Event Center, and Rotary Scout Hut.  Fully vaccinated individuals can opt out of wearing a face covering inside, but Management requests ALL attendees adhere to any COVID-19 safety guidelines implemented by the venue as well as respect any individual’s or group’s desire to practice additional personal and precautionary measures.  Please go to www.salidarec.com or www.salidasteamplant.com for new rules and procedures that will be in effect in order to visit these facilities.

City Council and Planning Commission meetings, along with meetings of all boards and commissions, will continue to allow in-person attendance for purposes of conducting public hearings.  The City continues to request that those wishing to testify to please do so via our GoToWebinar platform or by email or letter.  Anyone who is unvaccinated who wants to provide testimony must wear a mask and remain at least six feet away from others both inside and outside of the Council Chambers.  Procedures for hearings can be found at www.cityofsalida.com.

The City of Salida is committed to the Chaffee County COVID Code of Conduct:

Get vaccinated
Stay home if sick
Get tested if experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
Wash your hands
Respect the COVID-19 safety protocols of any business or organization
Physically distance if unvaccinated
Wear a mask indoors and in crowded outdoor places if unvaccinated

Mayor P.T. Wood said, “The City Council and I would like to express our gratitude to Chaffee County Public Health and Director Andrea Carlstrom for their hard work in keeping Salida and Chaffee County open for business.  The City’s response to opening up more activities and spaces at the Aquatics Center, the SteamPlant, and at City Hall is directly related to the community following the Code of Conduct.  We look forward to continuing the decline in cases and hospitalizations, leading to more reopening of our wonderful City.  Please keep up the good work in keeping Salida safe!”
