City of Salida Recommends Applying for a Temporary Modification of Premises
Dear Bar and Restaurant Owners:
The City of Salida is fully invested in assisting all liquor license holders in navigating the new reality of operating in a time of COVID-19. Recently, the State of Colorado encouraged liquor license holders to begin looking at modifying their premises to allow for service on sidewalks, parking lots, and even streets. The intent of this order is to allow you to reopen to table service while practicing social distancing and operating in open air conditions to limit the potential spread of COVID-19. The City is committed to discussing these options with you and figuring out solutions.
Based on Liquor Enforcement Bulletins 20-07 and 20-08 (links below), we recommend that you start filling out your temporary modification application (link below) as soon as possible and remit to the City Clerk’s Office. The fee for the state is $150 but they are waiving the “turn off” fee ($150 savings). If you make your online payment (link below) to the state please remit your receipt along with your application to the City Clerk’s Office, 448 E 1st Street or Erin.Kelley@CityofSalida.com.
The current order expires 120 days from Friday, May 15th but they expect it to be extended and we do not expect you will have to reapply at that time. Please provide all necessary documentation, maps, your plans for barriers (tape and chalk will not be approved), signage, movement flow for servers, lease agreements etc. (items in question 9). Please also fill out the City of Salida Application and the Revocable License Agreement (if you will be utilizing public property). They have indicated that they will be reviewing creative solutions and will try to be flexible.
We are here to assist you in working on a reopening plan that meets the state’s guidance and follows best practices to limit the spread of COVID-19. In addition, we would encourage you to work with your neighboring businesses to identify creative ways in which to operate. We want to cultivate a safe reopening plan with you, and we need to be careful to limit community spread and avoid having to close our economy again.
