Monarch Pass Closure in Effect

From the Colorado Department of Transportation –

SOUTH-CENTRAL COLORADO ― US Highway 50 Monarch Pass is closed due to a vehicle crash and adverse weather winter conditions. Eastbound travelers are being stopped in Sargents, mile point 191. Westbound motorists cannot travel beyond the Monarch Ski Area, MP 200. There is no estimated time of opening the highway, and this closure could stretch into an already planned closure set for this Thursday evening.

Winter maintenance operations, including avalanche control work is set to start at 5:00 p.m., Thursday March 7. Motorists will experience a lengthy delay. Please note that once mitigation efforts begin, the westbound closure point will be moved ten miles east to Maysville, MP 210.
