City Council Thanks Rusty Granzella, Seeks to Appoint for Ward 1 Vacancy

On Tuesday, November 13th, City Councilman Rusty Granzella announced his resignation from the position of Councilman for Ward 1 for the City of Salida, effective immediately.  In his resignation letter, Councilman Granzella states, “It is in the best interests for the Salida City Council and the City of Salida to appoint someone from Ward 1 who can be part of the 2019 budget and represent Ward 1 residents with proper time and effort.”  The Salida City Council thanks Rusty for his years of service and looks forward to continuing to work with him in his new role as Chaffee County Commissioner.

The City is hereby seeking to fill the Ward 1 vacancy. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit an application, a letter of interest and a resume to the City Clerk’s Office located at 448 E. 1st Street Suite 112, Salida, CO 81201 or directly to the Deputy City Clerk, Lynda Travis at

Colorado Revised Statutes state that if any vacancy occurs in the office of councilmen because of a resignation the same shall be filled by appointment by a majority vote of the City Council. Candidates need to have resided in the ward in which he or she is a candidate for a period of at least twelve consecutive months. Please review the ward map to determine if you qualify by way of residency.

Candidates will be interviewed by the City Council during a Work Session on a date to be determined and the selected candidate will be subsequently appointed at a Regular Meeting of the City Council.
