Featured Employee of the Month
Employee Name: Harry Michael Peele
Position: Police Officer
Time with the City (months, years, etc.): 6 Months
What do you like the most about your position?
The fact that I was given an opportunity to serve the good people of Salida with the best police department in the state in my personal opinion. I also wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for the Salida Police Department staff member’s that worked hard to prepare me as best as they could using their extensive training and experiences.
When away from work what would you be found doing (i.e. hobbies, volunteering, relaxing, etc.)?
Spending time with my family, and messing around with my motorcycle. I’m currently trying to learn the sport of golfing. Let me tell you, I’m no Tiger Woods, lol.
Tell us something about you we may not already know:
I am a Honorably Discharged United States Army Veteran of 9 years. I served in the U.S Army National Guard from 2004 to 2007 as a Heavy wheel Mechanic. I went active duty in 2007 and completed my service agreement in 2013 as a 19 Kilo or Tank Armor Crewman. I was in charge of the M1A2 SEP Abrams Main Battle Tank, with Charlie Company 1-67 Armor out of Fort Carson. I completed two combat tours, my first being in the City of Mosul and Kirkuk Iraq and second being the Kandahar river valley in Afghanistan.
After my military service, I went to work for Kit Carson Correctional Facility, a level 3 prison in Burlington Colorado. I handled many different positions in the three years that I was there. I was a corrections officer, a S.O.R.T (Special Operations Response Team) team leader, I conducted drug and alcohol testing of the offender population and acted as a facility maintenance technician. I conducted my police academy training at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs with Chaffee County Sheriff’s Deputies Joey Lemly, Roy Williams and Dane DeVoy.
Harry Michael Peele, we thank you for your continued service to the City and for your decision to be a part of our team!
