On a recent weekend in Salida when many people were visiting our beautiful city and residents were enjoying the many events in town, City of Salida property was vandalized. This vandalism was discovered by City staff. This incident serves as a reminder that the City would like residents and visitors to report vandalism or other issues involving City property (dirty bathrooms, overflowing public trash cans, etc) as soon as they see them. City staff are not only on call during regular business hours but evenings and weekends as well to handle vandalism or City facility issues. Please call the Chaffee County non-emergency dispatch number at 719-539-2596 during evenings (after 4:00 p.m.) or weekends. Dispatch will notify the on-call employee accordingly. If the issue, incident or vandalism is noticed during the regular business week between 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. please call Public Works at 719-539-6257; call 911 for any emergency issues.
The City of Salida takes pride in maintaining the public spaces the citizens and visitors use and enjoy throughout the year. In turn, we hope that citizens and visitors will respect and use public property with care. Unfortunately, when a very small minority does not, we hope that you will help in reporting the incident so the problem can be resolved in a timely manner.
Thank you for your concern and care of our wonderful city.
