Street closures throughout Salida will be in effect for the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, which comes through town Wednesday, August 20 for the “Queen Stage.” The route includes: Poncha Boulevard from 3rd to Holman Ave, 3rd Street from Poncha Blvd to F Street, F Street from 3rd to Sackett Street and F Street from 4th to 15th Street, Sackett from D to F Street, D Street from Sackett to 4th, 4th Street between F and D Street, 15th Street between J and F Streets, 16th Street between L and J Streets, and Holman Ave between Poncha Blvd and L Street. Streets along the route will all be closed starting early morning of August 20. Officials are planning to re-open the streets at 3:00 p.m. after the last loop of the race (they will re-open no later than 6:00 p.m.). Please refer to the map below for details. The listed route will be manned by police officers. The officers will be re-routing traffic.
Racers will be riding the same course through Salida, two times. Riders are expected to be coming through Salida between 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Parked vehicles on the affected streets must be removed the night before (Tuesday, August 19) by 10:00 p.m. If vehicles are left on the course after 10:00 p.m. on August 19 they will be towed at owner’s expense.
The Salida Hot Springs Pool parking lot will serve as the volunteer check-in site for the race. This is also where volunteers may catch a shuttle up to Monarch Mountain. Race volunteers are being asked to park on the dirt parking lot to the rear of the pool. Please leave the asphalt parking lot for pool guests.
