The Salida Police Department received two new Ford vehicles this week for their fleet. The specialized Police Package Interceptors include a 2014 Ford Taurus and Explorer.
The new vehicles will replace two police vehicles with over 80,000 miles on them. One of the old vehicles is being donated to the Springfield, Colorado Police Department, which was approved by City Council. The other vehicle will be auctioned.
Salida Police Chief Terry Clark said police vehicles receive a lot of wear and tear, and City miles are tough on vehicles. Clark said the department is in good shape and reaching their goal of replacing vehicles on a seven year rotation. The City of Salida paid $67,384.00 for the vehicles.
