Marvin Park Boat Ramp Dropped From GOCO Salida River Trail Proposal

On February 3, 2014, a public meeting was held on the proposed Salida River Trail project. Overall, the public at large supported the concept and trail project.  Staff from several different agencies including the City of Salida, Chaffee County, Arkansas Headwater Recreation Area, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife answered questions and took public comment on the proposed project.  The public expressed concerns about the proposed boat ramp location adjacent to a residential neighborhood.  After hearing these comments, the boat ramp has been eliminated from the project scope.

The total estimated project cost for the Salida River Trail is approximately $520,000.  This includes $54,000 for a Fishing is Fun grant to improve ADA fishing access. The required local match for this project is 25% or $130,000.   The City has been meeting with different community organizations garnering both financial and in-kind support.
