Starting Tuesday, March 4th, Atmos Energy Corporation will close H street from 3rd street to 4th street and from 4th street to 5th street. As much as possible 4th street will remain open to allow access to Hylton Lumber. When the closure of the intersection at 4th and H streets becomes necessary alternate access to Hylton Lumber can be made from 3rd street on the West side of the Hylton steel shop or through the gate on 5th street through the Hylton lumber yard. These closures are necessary to replace gas mains and several gas service lines in advance of the work on H Street that will begin shortly after. This work is expected to take approximately 2 weeks.
Bob Salmi, Public Works Director, said there will be open trenches within the street during construction; therefore, for public safety reasons, the street must be closed. All properties owners within the street closure have been notified.
A public meeting describing the scope of this summer’s H Street Project will occur at 6:00 p.m. March 3 at the Salida SteamPlant. Project information is available on the City’s website at https://cityofsalida.com/
