Salida’s Creative District will host the first free Creative Mondays class on Monday, October 7, 2013 at the SteamPlant Ballroom, 220 W. Sackett from 6-8 p.m.
Creative Mondays is series of free classes primarily for artists and creative entrepreneurs, but everyone is welcome to attend. They will be held the first Monday of the month starting in October. Topics featured will range from business plans, to marketing, and website development. Participants in the first class will also be surveyed on future topics they would like to see in the series.
This first class in this series is “If you want to be a successful ARTREPRENEUR, you need a Business Plan,” being taught by Neil McKenzie, faculty with Metro State University’s Center for Innovation.
Neil McKenzie is an author, educator and consultant to artists and arts organizations. He has over 30 years’ experience as a management consultant and corporate marketing executive working in a variety of industries. Neil has worked with hundreds of organizations to develop business and marketing plans, including some of the world’s top brands.
He is a visiting professor at the Center for Innovation at Metropolitan State College Denver, where he developed and teaches the cutting-edge course, Artrepreneurship which provides artists and creative professionals with the tools to start, run and market a successful arts or creative business. Neil is also a visiting professor at University College at the University of Denver, where he teaches the graduate course, Marketing for the Arts.
