At last night’s City Council meeting Fire Chief Doug Bess introduced Salida’s newest Firefighter, Dan Distel. Dan joined as a Reserve Firefighter on May 17, 2011. He became a qualified EMT shortly after and on May 30, 2012 took a temporary position as Firefighter to cover for another Firefighter on leave; this temporary position lasted until September 6, 2012. Dan gained great knowledge and experience during this time.
A full-time Firefighter position opened up in July 2013. Dan tested very well and was offered the position.
Dan started as full-time Firefighter on August 10, 2013. He addressed Council, staff and the audience, mentioning that this is a culmination of a lifelong dream and thanked the Fire Department, Council and staff for this opportunity of a lifetime.
Congratulations and Welcome Dan!
