In accordance with the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office cancelling all fire restrictions in the unincorporated areas of the county as of 6pm today, the City of Salida will also be rescinding its fire ban.
The weather patterns have been showing moisture for the weekend and humidity levels have increased in recent days.
Please continue to be safe and cautious in your outdoor activities and always err on the side of caution; an unintentional fire can still result in fines or even jail time.
The fire danger rating was lowered from VERY HIGH to HIGH over the weekend in the valley, and in San Isabel National Forest and local BLM lands as well. Residents and visitors are also reminded, however, that fireworks are NEVER permitted on US Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management properties.
These actions come after frequent consultations among local, county, state, and federal officials and are based on the most recent data on moisture, fuels, and availability of fire suppression resources locally.
Thank you for your understanding and we regret any inconvenience to our visitors and strains on our local businesses affected by the recent restrictions.
