Mayor Rose’s Commentary on Recent Budget Cuts

The financial blow up has resulted in two years of budget cuts. At this time the cuts total about $700,000. Financial forecasters lead many of us in the city to conclude revenue will continue to decline and there might be a need to cut the 2010 budget further.

Notice of the Availability of an Environmental Assessment

As required by the National Environmental Policy Act and agency regulations, the Rural Utilities Service has prepared an Environmental Assessment that evaluated the potential environmental effects and consequences of the proposed waste water treatment facility upgrade. This notice announces the availability of the Environmental Assessment for public review and comment.

Community Development Department Spring Update

With the economic downturn, we have seen a decrease in building permit and current planning applications. This reprieve has allowed the staff of the Community Development Department a much needed opportunity to catch up on some long-range projects for the City.

Unique Theater Deemed Unsafe

A notice of the unsafe conditions means that the building has serious life, health and safety issues but at this time the conditions outside the building do not pose an immediate risk to the general public or neighboring properties.

City Makes Responsible Budget Cuts Due to Sales Tax Drop in March

Sales tax figures for the month of March became available this week. The city’s most significant general fund revenue source has been down for seventeen months in a row with only one exception.

Watering Restrictions and Other Information

The following water restrictions will be in effect for the 2010 irrigation season. Beginning April 15, 2010, and running through October 15, 2010, outside watering between 10.00 am.
