This municipal facility is managed by city staff, together with a commission that includes members of the community.
The SteamPlant Event Center operates as a high-quality, attractive theater and event center that increases business and tourism in Salida and the Upper Arkansas River Valley and provides diverse, affordable and quality cultural programming. The long-term goal of the SteamPlant is to become self-sustaining by providing rental space and services to both local and outside groups in an effort to provide positive economic impact for the area.
Formerly operated by a group of volunteers, the City took over operations of the facility in 2008 following a major renovation and expansion. Volunteers continue to play a vital role in supporting the SteamPlant. Please visit the Friends of the SteamPlant website for additional information.
