The Recreation department provides quality programs, activities and special events for community members of all ages. Many events target out of town visitors in addition to our citizenry. Increasingly, the department is responsible for capital projects related to parks, trails and open space.
The Aquatic Center serves as a hub for all City Recreation activity and is the only municipal fitness facility in Chaffee County. Catering to two distinct demographics, the Aquatic Center serves locals by offering fitness classes and aquatic events while simultaneously serving tourists and out of town guests by providing a pleasant facility in which to recreate and learn about the wide variety of recreation activities available in Salida.
The Recreation and Aquatic Center staff manage the reservation system for the City’s parks and Scout Hut helping event organizers plan well organized public and private events.
Salida Recreation and Aquatic Center publishes 3 recreation guides each year that are a community resource for information on recreation related events and activities.
