The Salida Tree Board is looking for city residents who are interested in nurturing a tree.
The trees are planted in the City’s right-of-way between the sidewalk and curb, or city easement.
Trees that are the appropriate size and species for your location will be chosen by Tree Board Members. We will pick varieties that are not likely to raise sidewalks.
Volunteers or the Public Works Department will plant the tree, providing a decorative planting ring, bark, mulch and support wires if necessary.
YOUR obligation will be to water the tree, and keep the tree from harm’s way. It will require weekly water in the summer, and monthly water in winter for at least three years. More specific tree care information can be found by contacting Marilyn Moore at 719-539-9195.
To apply for a tree, or to obtain additional information, submit an application form, contact Marilyn Moore at 539-9195. Applications can be mailed to the Salida Tree Board, 448 E. 1st Street, Suite 112, Salida, CO 81201
Tree species will be chosen by Salida Tree Board with homeowner’s input. The site must be approved by the Salida Tree Board. You will be notified if your site is approved.
