SteamPlant Commission

Overview

The SteamPlant Commission (SPC) was formed in 2007 to oversee the development and operation of the SteamPlant Event Center (“the SteamPlant”) as a diverse cultural and educational venue.

In general, the SPC is responsible for determining financial and operational policies for the SteamPlant. A key function of the group is serving as the connecting link between the community, City Council, City staff, Friends of the SteamPlant, Chaffee County and the SteamPlant staff.

Meetings

Regular meetings are held at the Touber Building quarterly or as needed. The SPC may also conduct special meetings, work sessions and site visits or inspections from time to time in addition to conducting regular meetings.

Members

Of the SPC members, three are selected by the Friends of the SteamPlant, one is selected by the County Commissioners, one is selected by the City Council representing the lodging industry as an event advocate and two are city staff members.
