The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), with the assistance of a geotechnical contractor, will be collecting ground samples at two intersections in Salida next week. The samples and data collected will help determine future replacement of the traffic light signals at both intersections.
On Wednesday, July 20th, crews will work at the intersection of Colorado Highway 291 and F Street. Motorists are warned that the traffic light will not operate from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm with flaggers guiding motorists through the intersection. The intersection will remain open in all directions. Travelers are urged to use caution, especially during the five hour time frame while the traffic light is not functioning.
Additionally on Thursday, July 21st, crews will collect ground samples at the intersection of US Highway 50 and County Road 111 (Walmart Intersection). No traffic impacts are anticipated at this intersection, but again, motorists are encouraged to be mindful of crews working in the area.
