Summer of Music Kicks Off June 19th

There are tons of great opportunities to catch free, outdoor music this summer!

The 4th Annual summer music series presented by the Go To Guide and Salida Recreation will kick off on Thursday, June 19th. This series of 7 concerts will happen every Thursday evening in Riverside Park from 6 – 8 pm. The final concert will be held on July 31, unless the event of a rain delay sets the schedule back.

The concerts are free, but donations are collected each week to benefit the Salida Recreation Youth Scholarship Fund. The Youth Scholarship Fund began awarding financial aid this spring. The fund is available for any qualifying family to use towards any Salida Recreation sponsored program or swim pass. For more information about scholarships, please call (719) 539-5703 or visit www.salidarec.com/scholarships.

This year’s line-up will include returning favorites Doctor Robert, the Alan & Martin Band, and Old Mose. Doctor Robert, hailing from Crested Butte, rocks the music of the Beatles. Alan and Martin features local musicians Alan Pursell and Martin Epp, who will keep you dancing to country music. Old Mose is another local Salida band that plays an eclectic variety of bluegrass jams.

Joining the band list this year will be Hayes, Epp and Bones (HEB), The Riff, Wonderlic, and Full Moon Float. HEB and The Riff are both local rock trios sure to entertain and delight! Wonderlic hails from Denver and will be playing some funky grooves for you. Full Moon Float will be coming down from Buena Vista, playing original mountain tunes.

This “Thursdays at Six” concert series is co-hosted by Salida Recreation and the Go To Guide Telephone Directory, with community support from Su Casa, The Victoria Tavern, Kathleen Nelson (Keller Williams Real Estate), Pinon Vacation Rentals, Colorado Central Magazine, Dragonfly Gifts, Arlie Dale’s Jug Liquors, Salida Mountain Sports, The Book Haven, Crest Counselling, Liz Petersen (State Farm Insurance) and Bank of the West.
