The Salida Fire Department will be hosting a Fire Prevention Open House on Saturday, Oct. 13th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM as part of their Fire Prevention Week activities. Burgers and hot dogs will be served from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and there will be fire truck rides, a dunk tank, a bounce house, balloons & prizes! There will also be an extrication demonstration at 1:30. Representatives from several other agencies will be in attendance as well, including the U.S. Forest Service, Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area, Salida Hospital and insurance providers.
Salida Fire Department members will also be delivering pizzas and checking smoke detectors for two hours on Friday, Oct. 12th in partnership with Moonlight Pizza. Customers will be chosen at random and firefighters will deliver their pizza and check their smoke detectors. If the smoke detectors work the pizza is free. If the smoke detectors do not work the firefighters will give the customer a new one but the pizza will not be free.
