CDOT and the City of Salida begins phase II of the Hwy. 50 Pedestrian Enhancement project on US Hwy. 50, in Chaffee County from D Street to Cty. Rd. 107
Colorado Department of Transportation contractor Y&K Excavation, Inc. will be constructing pedestrian and lighting enhancements to the US Highway 50 corridor on both the North and South sides of the Hwy. This will include unclassified excavation, erosion control, asphalt roadway patching, curb and gutter installation, pedestrian sidewalks and drainage improvements.
Work is scheduled to begin on September 4, 2012, with expected completion on October 31, 2012. Lane closures will begin when construction begins. The project improvements will begin at D Street and go East to County Road 107 (New Street) on the South side and then returning up the North side of Hwy. 50 from Cty. Rd. 107(New St.) going West to D St. (to include a portion of C Street).
Working hours will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
There will be lane closures with single-lane, alternating traffic during the construction of this project. Access to all business will be available either through alternate routes or existing driveways. There will be no weekend work.
Pedestrians shall always have a clear minimum 5-foot walking path free of equipment and work operations to safely travel through the work zone area.
