Although the City is at the height of summer projects and activities, it is now time to start thinking about what we want to accomplish in 2013! It is also the time for organizations seeking financial support from the City for 2013 projects to submit their Community Funding Request forms.
The budget process starts in August, when department heads review mid-year accomplishments and start to determine priorities to recommend for City Council approval in the next budget cycle. Staff will meet with the City Council on August 24th to discuss our vision, goals and priorities. Then, over the next two weeks, department heads will meet with the City Administrator and Finance Director to further discuss needs and priorities for each functional area within the City’s operations.
We will hold a series of budget discussions with the City Council in September and October. Currently, we plan to hold these during the regularly scheduled work sessions on the first and third Tuesday of each month starting at 8:30 AM. All council work sessions are open to the public and are broadcast on cable channel 10. We welcome the engagement of our community in the budget discussions.
