No Fireworks – No Problem! July Fourth activities in Riverside Park will end with a screening of a previous fireworks show accompanied with recorded music from the U.S. Air Force Academy Band – and a laser light show!
On Sunday, July 1, the U.S. Air Force Academy Band will play in Riverside Park from 7-8:30 p.m. This event is always a local favorite. Before the concert from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Vickie Sue Vigil will collect donations for the Red Cross to help benefit victims of Colorado wildfires. Many band members have been evacuated from their homes.
July Fourth activities begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday with the Salida Masonic Temple pancake breakfast at 140 West Third St. Starting at noon, the Salida Circus performs followed by the Ark Valley Freedom Choir and Salida Brass at Riverside Park.
Salida Recreation Department staff will host free family games from 1 to 3 p.m. Games include potato sack and three-legged races, face painting and more.
Salida’s beloved July 4th Hometown Parade begins at 4 p.m. down F Street – don’t miss it! Following the parade, local all-girl band Red Bandana will perform at Riverside Park followed by local favorite the Groove Farmers from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. Beer and food will be available in the park.
At 9:30 p.m., the City of Salida will show a recording of the 2010 fireworks show accompanied by laser lights in the park.
