A chemical spill occurred in the alley in the area of 12th and D last night. Salida Fire and other resources are working on cleaning the spill.
We ask that area residents shelter in place. This essentially means stay where you are. If you need to leave the area for work, feel free to do so. We ask that you do not leave and return immediately. Please keep pets inside and windows closed. Pedestrians and cyclists should avoid the closure area.
Streets are closed from 11th and C to Highway 50 and from 12th and D to New Street. Closure is expected to last until noon today.

Update! – The spill has been cleaned and city staff are reopening roads now. A Code Red call has been issued to notify effected residents.
