Thanks for the 4th of July Support

The City of Salida Fire Department wishes to say thank you for your support as we continue to bring the residents of the city and Chaffee County a 4th of July fireworks celebration that displays our community’s patriotism and spirit. After viewing the show, I believe we accomplished our goal.

Many do not realize the time and effort put in by your firefighters to make sure the show is a success. The staff spends many hours planning the show, setting up and then cleaning up after the show. Their dedication is demonstrated by the huge success of the show and the great response from the community. Thanks to each of them for their work!

With the increased fire danger in the county I would like to give a special thanks to Chaffee County Fire Protection District, Western Fremont Fire Protection District and the USFS who provided trucks and personnel to standby and extinguish any of the small spot fires which occurred. Without their support our display would not have been possible. In addition Rob Vance from Public Works, Hadley Construction and Chris from A-1 provided time and equipment in support of the show.

The fireworks display is accomplished each year due to the generosity of the businesses and citizens of Salida, Poncha Springs and adjoining areas. Without your continued support and donations we would not be able to bring you the show. To each of you, each of the stores who allowed us to put a boot on their counter and Zac with 4 Alarm Liquor we want to pass on a huge Thank You!

This year’s show was possible due to the success of last year’s fundraising efforts of the firefighters and local businesses. In addition, a huge thank you goes out the Salida City Council, who provided additional funds to bring you the show. As with each of the citizen donations, we could not have done it without them.

The fund raising efforts for next year’s show have already begun with the annual firefighter boot drive. With the assistance of the CCFPD Station 4, we were able to visit all of the roads in Salida, Poncha Springs and areas immediately surrounding the city and town. I am pleased to say your support has put us on the track for an equally large show next year. We would like to pass on our thanks to Amber, Brittany, Carenne, Katie and Libby with Sonic and Ashton and the “Car Washers” who sponsored fund raising events which were both a huge success. We will continue to do fund raising efforts throughout the rest of the year to make sure we bring you a show you will enjoy and bring more visitors to the city to watch.

Once again, thanks for your continued support and we sure hope you enjoyed the show.

Don Taylor, Fire Chief
