Pet owners may also purchase city licenses at the clinic. The Salida Municipal Code §7-8-180 requires all dogs and cats over the age of four months to be licensed. The purpose of licensing pets is in the interest of public health, safety and general welfare of Salida residents. The city tag may also be the link to reconnect pets with their owners if he or she is ever missing.

If the pet has been spayed or neutered, proof of sterilization is needed to pay the lower fees. The pet owner must show proof of rabies vaccination and complete a pet license application.
